Nancy Root remembers Jessie James in Grundy County

Family Lore... as told to Willa May Root (Runk) by her fraternal Grandmother Nancy...
Willa May related to this writer that Nancy told her the following story…

One night, the outlaw Jessie James spent the night hiding under her porch. At the time, Nancy was living in Galt, Grundy County, Missouri.  Federal census shows, Nancy moved from Kentucky to Galt between 1880 and 1900.
Research via Wikipedia shows 15 July 1881, Jessie and his brother Frank robbed the Rock Island Railroad in Winston, Daviess County, Missouri. Winston is located about 46 miles from Galt, Missouri.
